Patriot’s Day Part 1.
This past weekend I shot the revolutionary war reenactments in Lexington, MA. The work is the beginning of a larger project on Gun Culture for the upcoming third issue of Jay Peg’s. I find it to be a perfect balance between the importance of guns in the establishment of this country’s independence while also showing how guns are perceived currently, especially by the youth.
Patriot’s Day Part 2
En route to Burning Man 2011
A Night at the Miami Virginia Beach Grass Roots Festival.
During a joyride through the Colorado Mountains with my co-adventurer Matt we came across a most peculiar hitchhiker. Frank Roof has never owned a car, instead he relies on the generosity of others to drive him to and from “work”. Once a week Frank hitches a ride to and from Central City where he frequents 3-4 casinos. He starts with $15 in casino vouchers, never playing with his own money, and never staying at a casino for more than half an hour. He consistently walks away with $1000-$2000, allowing him to support himself for the last 17 years and 10 months. Franks methodical lifestyle and self control made him a most fascinating encounter.
